Dance Festival!!

Take notice of where Bryson is in the photo to be able to find him in the video. There were about 10 stakes involved and it was a lot of fun. Very creative dancing and colorful to watch.

Crazy Week

This has been a BUSY week. The youth have a dance festival coming up on Saturday (two stakes) at BSU. I just finished ironing three skirts (lots of material). That was the least of the problem. As the activities person in my ward we were assigned by the stake to help with the youth during the day at a Humanitarian Project. We couldn't think of anything for 300 teenagers to do that doesn't take a lot of money, time and preparation. We decided they could tie quilts from the Humanitarian Center and I was asked to arrange for 10 quilts. Okay, I thought, I will ask if each ward could bring one that needs tied along with the quilt frames. It has been like pulling teeth. Not everyone has a quilting person, or frames or someone who cares about finding them. So, I have sewed two tops and arranged for three frames (all sitting in my car). I know for sure I have five frames and three more maybes that will be there. I think we have six more quilts. Hopefully it will all come together after 10 more emails and 7 more phonecalls. THIS is why I rarely volunteer to be in charge of anything.

In our spare time Bryson went to the orthodontist Sam Smith to get spacers put in his teeth in prep. for the braces that will be attached on Tuesday. He has the same situation as cousin Janna: baby teeth not coming out, adult teeth not coming in. Even the same two teeth as Janna. They will put chains on the teeth and "encourage" them to come in. AND I got to go in to get a re-treat on a root canal gone wrong. It was still infected and I am on the third round of anitbiotics. I am also on the warpath with the sunny sweet dandelions in my yard. They've got to go--all of them. Okay, I'm done venting and thanks...I feel better

Canyon Magic - A tribute to my Uncle Curt

I just found this article written in Paddler Magazine about my Uncle Curt. It was a well-written article and gave me a better understanding of my uncle and his choices. Read the article here:

Five Crowns and More

Dave, Bryson and I drove to SLC last weekend for a Spring Break Celebration. Actually Dave worked Thursday and Friday but we got to go to Pleasant Grove/Lehi Friday night to play Five Crowns with John, Kim, Phil and Annie. Rosemary took Daysa to her house for an early morning meet, so they didn't play. It was fun - the wild card changes each hand. Bryson went to Sundance on Sat and Dave and I played around the Gateway Condo and had lunch at Zumas (yummy soups and salads). We had a bizzare experience in Burley, too awkward to explain here but if you want details...email me.

Treasure Hunt

Bryson dropped his cell phone behind a couch cushion and it fell to the bottom of the couch which is covered by a stapled cloth. As we tipped the couch over we could hear some "noise" and wondered what was inside the couch. So, we pulled off the cover and besides retrieving his cell phone we found an odd assortment of goodies:

See if you can find all the treasures: a plastic sword, a pacifier, 2 legos, a plastic doll hat, 8 pens, 6 1/2 pencils, 21 gold rocks, 2 phase ten cards, 2 playing cards, 1 Dirt Rider subscription card, 2 pennies, 2 batteries, an advertising magnet, a Relief Society bookmark, 1 jar lid, a cough drop, a water balloon, a bobby pin, 1 game boy game, an empty lip gloss tube "Whirlin Watermelon", a Christmas card, a Christmas gift tag, AND one yellow marble.

Seventeen Candles

For Bryson's 17th BD he invited Chase Palmer and his cousin Sam to McCall for the weekend. They left Sat morning at 7:00 so they could get in a full day of skiing at Brundage Mtn. Saturday night we had dinner and then cake and ice cream and a few presents. The boys messed around in the snow trying to make their own jump and then spent the rest of the evening playing games or ping pong or watching a movie. Happy 17th Bryson!!

Amazing President's Weekend

We had a great three-day weekend. Kristen and Matt flew to Boise on Weds and went to Bogus Basin that night to play in the snow. Thursday we drove over to Idaho Falls just in time to pick Dave up at the airport (he was just getting back from South Africa). We visited with Grandma and Grandpa Hansen and Friday the boys went skiing at Targhee while Kristen, Mom and I went shopping - for BABY clothes! Kristen told her grandparents that she was expecting in October. They were very excited. We drove back to Boise Sunday morning and Ben and Chantal were there waiting for us. They had some news to tell us also. They gave us the M & Ms to announce their baby due in September. Dave and I are thrilled and happy for all four of them.
